Dewain was known for his gentle laughter, heartfelt prayers, and his famous \"5-minute jobs\"—tasks he would recruit his children for that invariably took anywhere from 30 minutes to several days. Professional Life Dewain dedicated 40 years to public safety, beginning his career with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in 1958 as a radio operator.
