Past Master Biography: Winston Norris \"The Judge\" Rumsey (1937 – 2019) Past Master: Lubbock Lodge No. 1392 (2003–2004) 33° Scottish Rite Mason I. Life & Career Early Life & Family Winston Norris Rumsey was born on New Year\'s Eve, December 31, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Anna Vivian Rumsey. He married his beloved wife, Glaytus Lee, on May 3, 1958, at Ford Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Together they raised a large and loving family, including their daughter Shirley and sons Jon, Jeffrey, Rodrick, Fred, and Raymond. Professional Life Norris dedicated 35 years of service to Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1998. Beyond his career, he was a man of diverse interests, affectionately known to many as \"The Judge.\" He was a member of the Texas Tech Flying Club, the Foreign Car Club, the Lubbock Coin Club, and the Lubbock Gun Club. A great storyteller, he always had a tale ready for anyone willing to listen. Community Service \"The Judge\" was deeply committed to the youth of Lubbock. He coached his sons in YFL football and Western Little League baseball for many years and served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader from 1973 to 1983. He was also a faithful member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church for 75 years. II. Service Record & Offices Held Brother Rumsey\'s service to the Lodge spanned nearly five decades. He first served as Tiler in 1971 and as a Deacon in the mid-1970s. After a hiatus, he returned to the line in 1999, ascending to Worshipful Master in 2003. After his presidency, he served as the Lodge Chaplain for nearly a decade, offering spiritual guidance to the brethren. IV. In Memoriam Brother Winston Norris Rumsey laid down his working tools on February 23, 2019, at the age of 81. Services: A celebration of life was held at Lake Ridge Chapel. Interment: Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, Texas. Memorials: Contributions were directed to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
